Tango-min

Victims of the novelty pet industry, Tango and his brother Romeo were about to be sold for slaughter after their novelty soon wore off.  At just two years of age, these once-loved and treasured pets were reduced to the mere price of their flesh when RASTA was able to intervene and convince their owner to surrender them to the Sanctuary instead.

Sadly, donkeys are commonly slaughtered in Canada, the same as horses, with Alberta being the kill capital of North America for equine slaughter.  The majority of their flesh is exported to Belgium, France, and Japan while other parts remain in Canada and are used in pet foods and by-products like gelatin (Jell-o, gummy bears, etc) and glycerin (soaps, moisturizers, etc).  Cruelty-free plant sourced alternatives to these products exist, it's just a matter of reading ingredient labels before purchaing items.

Tango and Romeo are best friends and can always be found hangining out together.  The RASTA Sanctuary has been their home for over ten years now.
