On a cold November night, at two in the morning, a tiny kitten mysteriously appeared on our doorstep at our old Sanctuary location in Alberta. With no one looking for this sweet little girl, we assumed that she was most likely dumped off by someone who couldn’t be bothered with her care. It truly is amazing how this tiny creature found her way to the door of our house, as our home was quite secluded, and let alone in the middle of a cold winter’s night.
Affectionately named after one of our former volunteers that specialized in providing exceptional care to our diverse feline family, Roxie has since bonded with Houdini, another cat that came to us as an abandoned kitten a few years ago. Although RASTA is primarily a refuge for farm animals, we've also provided a lifelong safe haven to many homeless cats over the years.
In 2021, after RASTA's founder Lucie Cerny was unable to continue due to health issues, Roxie, along with the other sanctaury resdients, was transferred into the care of A Home for Hooves Farm Sanctuary.
