Piggy Sue is a Berkshire-cross pig, she was found discarded by the side of the road on Vancouver Island.

We don't know the exact conditions of Piggy Sue's abandonment, but her umbilical cord was still attached when she was found, and as she grows we've realized she's a dwarf, and these lead us to consider two likely scenarios:

1 - She was born on a truck bound for the slaughterhouse, and fell off of it.

2 - The farmer recognized that she was a runt and wouldn't be a profitable investment to feed and house, so he tossed her away.

Piggy Sue has grown up with another baby here at the Sanctuary, Pheonix the turkey!

The two are close friends, who have grown and explored the world together.

She's an extrememly social piglet, and is alway front and center meeting new people and living her life to the fullest.  It's a sad reality that in industries where animals are only measured by how much of a profit can be made from them, smaller or sickly animals are discarded as useless.

We think Piggy Sue is perfect exacly as she is, and it's an amazing fortune that she was found and saved and will live her life here in peace with family and friends all around.
