Penny came to us in the late summer of 2017 and her story is one of remarkable bravery. While loaded in a trailer packed full of slaughter-bound pigs and heading down a Saskatchewan highway at 100km/hr, Penny who was a young piglet at the time, somehow managed to free herself and jumped from the trailer. She was seen leaping from the trailer by a man who was driving a ways behind as he witnessed her hitting the ditch and rolling a number of times. Fortunately for Penny, the man was kind enough to stop and pick her up. He brought her to the local vet clinic where she was treated for her injuries for over a week. Once recovered, the man returned for her and brought her to his urban home where he and his wife then tried desperately to find Penny a farm home where she could live happy and free and not end up on somone's plate. Unfortunately such homes are often few and far between, and even more so in Saskatchewan. In the end, Penny was flown to us here on Vancouver Island and has been living the good life ever since.
