Marlow
Marlow, formerly Zulu, is a one year old Pitbull Mastiff cross that came to us as an urgent case from the mainland due to aggression issues. Marlow was surrendered by a family that rescued him from a difficult past and although they loved him very much, they lacked the experience and ability to manage his aggressive behavior towards people and other animals.
When Marlow first arrived in our care he was very aggressive towards all the animals at the Sanctuary, including our other senior canine resident, Benson. He also displayed some aggression towards people, including Lucie herself.
It is also very important to note that Marlow's former owners were truly exceptional people because they offered to take him back should the Sanctuary not work out, and despite lacking the ability to manage his issues themselves, they didn't want to burden anyone else with their problems.
We are very happy to report that Marlow, who is an extremely smart boy, now has a clear understanding of basic obedience training both on and off leash, and has also been successfully socialized with the majority of RASTA's residents and volunteers. Marlow has gained a great deal of confidence in himself and others, and the more confidence, trust and freedom he gains, the better he behaves.
Marlow's training will continue to be an ongoing process but at this time we are very happy to welcome him to the RASTA family as we're confident that he'll make an excellent companion and guardian of the Sanctuary.
