Gerry-min

Gerry was surrendered to us by the Comox SPCA in Septemeber of 2017 as a result of a cruelty seizure.  What makes Gerry unique is that s/he appears to have the traits of both a male turkey, as well as a female one.  At this time both we, as well as our vet are baffled by Gerry and not entirely sure what sex s/he or "they" are.

Recntly though, Gerry became a mother to her chick Terri, after cleverly hiding a nest and laying eggs.  Her other chick, Pheonix, almost died after complications hatching, and has never been accepted by Gerry but still lives a full and happy life here at the sanctuary.

Over the years we've taken in several animals of various species from both the Alberta and the B.C SPCA, as well as countelss pounds, Humane Societies and shelters.
