Duckie Charlotte

Duckie Charlotte is a Muscovy duck.  She mangaed to escape a duck farm when she was just a duckling, and was affectionately known only as Duckie while we were hand raising her here because we were unable to determine her sex.  Once she showed us female traits, her name was expanded to Duckie Charlotte - the latter portion chosen by the kind humans who brought her to RASTA after she freed herself.

Charlotte grew up without the company of ducks for the most part until the 6 Pekin Ducklings arrived. She wasn't too sure about them at first, but pretty quickly adopted them and started taking care of them. She has also become close to Donald, who was the only duck here for a bit and is now pretty happy with all this company.

Muscovy ducks are typically raised for meat. Duckie Charlotte was still showing yellow feathers, having not yet grown adult plumage, when she reached what would have been her slaughter age of 7 weeks.

She's an incredibly social girl with humans, but we're very happy that she now has the company of her own kind to spend her days with.
