This is unfortunately a common story - people want to have a few animals, but then more are born by mistake and need a place to go.  With hens and ducks, it's not as difficult to find them homes because many people will take them for their eggs, and zoning allows them in some residential areas - the same cannot be said for drakes and roosters unfortunately, and so finding them homes is often next to impossible as sanctuaries are consistently maxed out with the number of males already in rescue.

Residents often end up with males accidentally, as they're improperly sexed at hatcheries, and with Muscovy ducks, it is practically impossible to tell at birth.  The unfortunate result is animals being in need of rescue, which is why even the happiest backyard eggs come at a cost of more animals in danger if appropriate homes cannot be found, which they rarely can be.
